CASTING
Our casting was relatively simple as we only have two characters, The Mother and the Child. We perhaps made this easier for ourselves as we did not show the antagonist in the chase scene meaning we did not have to consider how threatening the character had to look.
We cast the mother as Danny’s mum, not only because she is a mother and would therefore find no trouble with getting into character but she also takes part in amateur dramatics at our local theatre so we thought she was the best candidate. Also as she is Danny’s mum this meant we could easily arrange to film with her. Also as she is a mother she was in the right age bracket for it to be realistic in terms of the film.
The young girl was a little harder to cast as none of the group have family that young. Ms Lewis suggested we use her granddaughter who has appeared in media coursework for other groups before. This meant she was experienced at acting in other pieces and she was perfect in terms of age (6-7). We also wanted a child that looked very innocent and would invoke empathy in the audience and she fittes this role well.
